Half Sour makes delicious food, homemade half sour pickles, and great cocktails. We stopped in before the theater and have been back several times. It’s open late in South Loop, and there’s a comfortable atmosphere for having food and conversation. We liked their cheeseburger and Triple XXX chicken sandwich. I would like to see more small plate options because some of the choices are a little heavy before a performance.

We live near by and have stopped in a few times and ordered in as well. Truly 5/5 food and experience when dining in. Today we stopped in for brunch and the donut of the day or week was a cinnamon roll which was easily the best I’ve ever had. They have vegetarian options on the menu which is a plus. I had the vegetarian hash, and it was beautiful, I skipped eating the egg but the rest was delicious. We’ve had the cheese curds as well and they are 10/10. Not sure you could go wrong at all, highly recommend.

Stopped by Half Sour last weekend and had a blast. The charred wings with Fresno hot sauce were fire, and the matzo ball soup was like a warm hug—perfect for Chicago's unpredictable weather. Couldn't resist the cheeseburger; at 18, it was juicy and loaded with sharp American cheese and all the fixings. The vibe inside is chill, making it a great spot to unwind. With a couple of local brews, our tab came to around 60. Definitely adding this place to my South Loop favorites.

Absolutely amazing food! Went late night and loved it so much we had to come back again the next day. Everything we ordered was good.

I tried their latkes with smoked salmon dip. I really liked this dish because it had two of my favorite things and both worked well together. They also have their own bagels that they make fresh every day, I will absolutely be back for those. Cheese curds were spongy and I like how they give a hot sauce and buttermilk ranch in true midwestern fashion. I obviously got the burger, it has sharp American cheese, diced onions, roasted garlic aioli, and house dill pickles. This really reminded of an Au Cheval burger without bacon, and I really liked it. I also am more impressed with this burger because I typically don’t like lettuce on a burger, but they did it right. Hats off to Half Sour for the good food.

Pros: Cons: 1) Food 1) Wait time for food 2) Drink 3) Server The food was fabulous. The draft beer (Revolution Eugene Porter) was great. Our server (Sierra) was friendly and attentive. We before noon, and the customers kept coming in, so this is definitely a desired eatery. Located on the first floor. Outdoor seating is available on our visit: 13 Apr 2024

I had the drip coffee and chicken biscuit with hashbrown potatoes. Fantastic all around - drip coffee was great as far as drip goes, not too acidic or bitter and came out at a drinkable temperature. Perfectly breaded juicy chicken in some of the best fresh biscuits I've had. The potatoes were fresh and well browned. If I absolutely had to nitpick something, the potatoes were a tad bit oily, but everything was great.

I’ll admit we didn’t eat here but people who got food, looked like big portions. Really good vibe. Good drinks. Bartenders were ultra friendly. A bunch of tvs behind the bar so could watch some college football. A place if we weren’t going to dinner somewhere else, we would have hung around for a while. Update: we went back the next day for food. Got some burgers on their specials menu that were really good plus charred buffalo wings. Guy next to me guy a gyro special that looked solid. One of my favorite spots on the trip.
